Position Overview:

The position of a 2nd Engineer (2/E) on a Panamax bulk carrier is a critical role within the engine department, responsible for assisting the Chief Engineer in the operation and maintenance of the vessel’s machinery and systems. Below is an overview of the responsibilities, qualifications, and skills required for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the operation and monitoring of engine room machinery during assigned watch periods, ensuring adherence to safety protocols for a secure working environment.
• Operate and maintain main and auxiliary engines, generators, boilers, pumps, and compressors while conducting routine inspections and assisting in troubleshooting and repairs.
• Maintain accurate records of machinery performance and maintenance activities, preparing reports for the Chief Engineer on machinery status and any encountered issues.

Qualifications:

• Holder of valid COC (STCW Reg III/2) with verification and STCW certifications required for the position.
• Experience in repairs and dry docking
• Minimum experience in Rank – 12 months – (2 stroke of output 800kw and above)
• Experience in Electronic engines is preferred
• Good communication and solution finding skills.
• English proficiency written and spoken.
